ENGLISH VERSION

This is a technical demo of a wildlife ecosystem simulated with GOAP (Goal-Oriented Action Planning), where wolves, bears, deer and rabbits make their own decisions in real time, hunting, fleeing, feeding, resting, breeding and competing for the same territory, with no scripted paths behind any of it. There is no character to control and no objective to complete, the player simply watches whether the ecosystem manages to sustain itself over time.

Built in Unity 6 with Crash Konijn's GOAP v3 library, the world is procedurally generated (terrain, rivers, lakes, biomes and vegetation) and runs its own seasonal, weather and day/night cycle through Cozy Weather 3. Each species has its own set of needs (hunger, thirst, energy, perceived threat) and behaviors, the wolf hunts in packs and defends territory, the bear hibernates and opportunistically steals carrion, the deer keeps watch and flees as a herd, and the rabbit hides, digs burrows and colonizes the map if left unchecked.

University project

This demo is the final degree project of Alejandro Ibáñez Ramírez, from the Game Design and Development degree at CITM.

Being an academic project rather than a finished commercial game, some behaviors are not fully polished and one species in particular, the bear, is less calibrated than the rest. This is first and foremost a technical demonstration of behavior AI and ecosystem simulation, not a closed gameplay experience with set goals.
